DELQA: Inside the Music of Matthew Dear

Recipient of 2016 Cannes Lions Gold and Silver Design Lions, DELQA is an installation that invites the audience to physically go inside the music of critically-acclaimed music producer and artist Matthew Dear.

Using Microsoft Kinect technology, participants can manipulate their surroundings as they explore an ever-evolving world of music and sound. Both the visuals and the music respond intuitively to audience movements and interactions.

Kicking off our music program with Microsoft, the DELQA installation is the first in a series of collaborations that explores how Microsoft technology can inspire a new generation of artists, musicians, and creative technologists.

The vision for DELQA was to create a dynamic and immersive environment that would push the relationship between music and technology. This presented a unique opportunity to assemble a multidisciplinary team of interactive developers, animators, sound designers, architects, and musicians for a project that would showcase the strengths of each team member while demonstrating the power of creative collaboration.
